The N18 Oranmore to Gort Scheme has been combined with the M17 Galway to Tuam Scheme and the N17 Tuam Bypass scheme into one large scheme 57 kilometres long, known as the N17 N18 Gort Tuam PPP scheme. This scheme will be progressed as a PPP scheme, whereby the scheme will be constructed and maintained with mostly private finance . The scheme is currently out to tender and it is anticipated that a contract to commence construction of the scheme will be awarded at the end of 2010.
The tendering process for the N17 N18 Gort Tuam PPP scheme is being managed by the National Roads Authority. The scheme will be constructed as a four lane road. There will be no tolls on the road. Further details on the scheme can be found on the NRA website at the following link

14th April 2008 - An Bord Pleanála have advised that the Oral Hearing for the M17 Galway (Rathmorrissy) to Tuam Scheme will be held in the Marriot Hotel, Headford Rd. , Galway on Wednesday 23rd April 2008 at 11:00am. The Inspector is Mr. Billy Moore. 143 CPO and 102 EIS submissions have been made.
