INTRODUCTION

The Existing N6 runs from Galway City in the West to Kinnegad County Westmeath in the East, where it joins the existing N4 and continues along this route to Dublin City.

The existing N6 in Galway passes through the towns and villages of Oranmore, Craughwell, Loughrea, Kilreekil, Aughrim and Ballinasloe. These areas over the years have been key participants in the congestion factors of the route.
The overall length of the existing N6 is approximately 138 kilometers, of which 67 kilometers are within Galway County and City.
