The Award was presented for Áras an Chontae reflecting the level of accessibility that has been reached across key aspects of Galway County Councils services including: buildings and facilities, publications, websites, customer services, human resources, training and procurement procedures.
Excellence through Accessibility seeks to promote and reward a clear focus on and commitment to continuous improvement in accessibility of public services at all levels in participating organisations. Welcoming the Award, Director of Services, Kevin Kelly stated that the Council ‘continues to deliver on commitments outlined in our Disability Action Plan, in particular the accessibility of our buildings and customer services’ and acknowledged the input of staff from across the organisation in the achievement of the Award.
