Galway County Council have introduced a new subscription GeoRSS feature to our online Planning System. You can now be notified of Granted Planning Applications in your area (or any area). This GeoRss feed is updated every Monday afternoon. It provides information on Planning Applications granted in the previous 7 days in County Galway. Simply click on the link below and then ‘subscribe to this feed’.
(GeoRSS is an emerging standard for encoding location as part of a web feed).

Important notification for all Water users in County Galway
Information on Boil Water Notices and Interruptions to Supply in County Galway. Click on link above for more information. Please contact the Water Services Section on 091-476401 with any queries. There are numerous leaks and bursts throughout the county and the Council is endeavouring with difficulty to supply water in all areas. Conservation of water remains critical and supply will be intermittant and disrupted for a number of days.

Energy Efficiency in Historic Houses Seminar A half day seminar (1-5pm) to be held at The Lady Gregory Hotel, Gort On Thursday 2nd December 2010 The seminar will provide practical, appropriate and easy to understand advice and guidance on how to thermally upgrade older dwellings and reduce energy costs whilst ensuring that no damage occurs to their historic fabric and character. Crucially, attendance will equip the homeowner with the knowledge of how to obtain the most return for the least cost by doing ‘as much as necessary and as little as possible’ to ensure a comfortable and sustainable home to live in. N17 N18 Gort Tuam PPP scheme - important Press announcement
Minister for Transport Mr Noel Dempsey T.D. today announced that the preferred tender has been selected for the M17/M18 Gort to Tuam PPP Motorway. The National Roads Authority has confirmed that the BAM Balfour Beatty Consortium is the preferred bidder and they are expected to finalise project acceptance in the coming weeks with construction to commence early in the new year. It is expected that work will begin early 2011 and be completed by the end of 2014.
