There are numerous leaks and bursts throughout the county and the Council is endeavouring with difficulty to supply water in all areas. Conservation of water remains critical and supply will be intermittant and disrupted for a number of days.

NOTICE OF HAVING MADE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS/MATERIAL ALTERATIONS TO THE TUAM DRAFT LOCAL AREA PLAN TOGETHER WITH STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (SEA) & APPROPRIATE ASSESSMENT (AA) SCREENING REPORTS In accordance with the provisions of Section 20 of the above Planning and Development Act, 2000, (as amended), Article 14 of the Planning & Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations, 2004 and Article 6 of the EU Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC), notice is hereby given that Galway County Council has made proposed Amendments/Material Alterations to the Draft Local Area Plan (LAP) 2011-2017 and completed Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) screening and Appropriate Assessment (AA) screening of these Amendments/Material Alterations.

Energy Efficiency in Historic Houses Seminar A half day seminar (1-5pm) to be held at The Lady Gregory Hotel, Gort On Thursday 2nd December 2010 The seminar will provide practical, appropriate and easy to understand advice and guidance on how to thermally upgrade older dwellings and reduce energy costs whilst ensuring that no damage occurs to their historic fabric and character. Crucially, attendance will equip the homeowner with the knowledge of how to obtain the most return for the least cost by doing ‘as much as necessary and as little as possible’ to ensure a comfortable and sustainable home to live in. N17 N18 Gort Tuam PPP scheme - important Press announcement

Minister for Transport Mr Noel Dempsey T.D. today announced that the preferred tender has been selected for the M17/M18 Gort to Tuam PPP Motorway. The National Roads Authority has confirmed that the BAM Balfour Beatty Consortium is the preferred bidder and they are expected to finalise project acceptance in the coming weeks with construction to commence early in the new year. It is expected that work will begin early 2011 and be completed by the end of 2014.

Notice is hereby given that Galway County Council pursuant to Sections 18, 19, and 20 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended , Article 14 of the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations, 2004, Article 6 of the EU Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) and the EU Flood Directive 2007/60/EC, is intending to review the Claregalway Local Area Plan 2005-2011 and the Kinvara Local Area Plan 2005-2011 and to prepare new local area plans for Claregalway and Kinvara together with Strategic Environment Assessment & Appropriate Assessment Screenings/ Full Strategic Environment Assessment & Appropriate Assessment if required.
