Civil Defence

Galway County Council is responsible for the civil defence service in the city and county areas. The Council's Civil Defence Officer is based in Galway Fire Station and all other Civil Defence personnel are volunteers. The main services provided by civil defence personnel are:

• First Aid and ambulance services;
• Stewarding services;
• The provision of assistance at the incidents of flooding, accidents, evacuation or other emergencies.
