Galway Fire Services provides services for both Galway City and County and is responsible for:

Where to find us?

The Fire Service headquarters are located at Galway City Fire Station on Fr. Griffin Road. There are a total of 10 fire stations located in population centres around the County - Galway City Headquarters, which is a whole time / retained Fire Station, and all others are retained Fire Stations which are located in Athenry, Loughrea, Tuam, Ballinasloe, Mountbellew, Portumna, Gort, Clifden and Cill Rónáin.

The Fire Service responds to emergency calls in respect of fire, road, traffic and other accidents.

The emergency number is 999 or 112.

How to Contact us?

Protection / Prevention Services

Fire protection and fire prevention measures can be introduced for very little cost. We will arrange talks / demonstrations at local venues for community & voluntary groups. Fire Safety leaflets can also be collected at your local fire station or delivered by post.

We aim to visit all National Primary Schools around the County up to 4th class as part of the Community Fire Safety Schools Programme Initiative.

In partnership with the Community, Enterprise & Economic Development Unit we are currently rolling out a programme to install
smoke alarms in vulnerable households around the County.

Civil Defence

The Council is responsible for the civil defence service in the City and County areas. The Council’s Civil Defence Officer is based in the Fire Station Headquarters and all other civil defence personnel are volunteers.
