Hedgerow
Hedgegrow workshop - 7th October 2006
On Saturday 7th October 2006 the Hedge Laying Association of Ireland , with support from Crann and the Heritage Council, will be running a Hedgerow Workshop including training in the craft of Hedge Laying. This will take place on the farm of the Franciscan Brothers at the Agricultural College, Mount Bellew, Co. Galway. The site is adjacent to the college.

CONAMARA SEA WEEK ’06
LETTERFRACK – OCT 20TH – 30TH - Mighty magic at Sea Week ’06 The Quaker village of Letterfrack is the venue for the annual Conamara Sea Week festival which runs from Friday 20th until Monday October 30th. This is a multi layered event with its usual mix of artistic, cultural and sporting events involving the whole community adults and children and all wrapped up in mighty traditional music with players like Sharon Shannon, Sean Tyrell, The Kane sisters, Jim Murray, Conor Keane, Maire Keane, Johnny Connolly, Mattie Joe Sheamuis, John Nee and lots more singers, dancers and players. EDUCATION PROGRAMMES FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS AUTUMN/WINTER 2006/07 The Irish Seed Savers Association is inviting primary schools to take part in guided nature trails and practical activities at their Heritage Gardens at Capparoe, Scarriff, Co. Clare. The nature trails will allow the children to have an interactive experience with a variety of habitats, including heritage orchards, native woodlands and hedgerows, fairy fort, and heritage vegetable, herb and flower gardens. Heritage Grants Scheme 2007


Notice is hereby given of Galway County Council Heritage Grants Scheme 2007. The objective of the Heritage Grant Scheme is to promote interest, education, knowledge, and pride in, and to facilitate appreciation and enjoyment of the heritage of County Galway. Applications are invited from Community Groups only, for grants for heritage projects which benefit or relate to at least one of the aspects of heritage as set out in the Heritage Act, 1995. Heritage is defined as including: monuments, archaeological objects, heritage objects, architectural heritage, flora, fauna, wildlife habitats, landscapes, seascapes, wrecks, geology, heritage parks and gardens and inland waterways.

Completed application forms should be returned to the Heritage Officer not later than 4.00pm on Friday 20th April 2007.
