Introduction

The objective of the Housing Unit is to provide appropriate housing accommodation and a responsive and supportive housing service for those in need of assistance. The Unit seeks to enable eligible households to have available an affordable dwelling of good quality, suited to its needs, in a good environment and as far as possible at the tenure of its choice.

The principal activities of the Housing Unit are as follows:

Ø Provision and Maintenance of local authority housing

Ø Provision of Affordable Housing

Ø Facilitation of approved voluntary housing or non-profit housing

Ø Provision of accommodation for Travellers

Ø Estate Management

Ø Implementation of Housing Loans Schemes

Ø Provision of Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grants Schemes

Ø Implementation of housing standards for private rented dwellings
