What do we do?
The Galway Library Service consists of 29 libraries in total across the City and County. The 3 libraries in the City are purpose built, full time libraries, which the County Council operates on behalf of the City Council. There are a further 7 full time and 19 part time library facilities throughout the County, including on the Islands. A mobile library service brings books to many smaller towns and villages. There is a school’s library service which distributes books to over 200 primary schools.

BEQUESTS

 Ballybane Library, 4.15pm Wednesday 16th May 2007

A young girl is running into the library.
She is running in to the Library, and shouting back: “Are you coming Dad?”
In the hall-way she says: “Look Dad, a Toy Library,” pointing to the colourful sign for the toy-library on the library notice-board.
It is a wet and grey day in Ballybane, but the young girl is full of joy and with her exuberance and innocence she is imparting this joy to her father, and to two other people who are on the way into the library. Inside the library she works furiously with a set of crayons and colouring paper.
Her father browses the section of books which deal with men’s health.
The father and daughter are from a city council housing estate across the road from the library.

Events like this happen every day at the Library. A gift to the library will ensure that you leave a legacy to others who value and use the Library. Your donation will make a difference.
