Community Alert Signs
Members of the local community establish community alert areas in association with the Gardai and signs indicating that such an area exists are placed at various locations throughout the area. The signs and poles are supplied by the local community and a map showing the proposed location of each sign must be submitted to the County Council. The signs are erected free of charge by the Council on behalf of the community subject to approval of the chosen locations. The Council has extended it’s public liability insurance to cover community alert signs where;
- the signs are erected at locations agreed with the Council and are in line with the Council’s specification
- the community group hand over responsibility and the Council accept full responsibility for the signs including maintenance and upkeep of them once they are erected.
