Information Leaflets on Road Safety

Ø      Going to School – A Parent’s Guide to getting Children to School Safely

The Road Safety Authority’s ‘Going to School – A Parent’s Guide to getting Children to School Safety’ leaflet issued to each national school in Co. Galway in 2008.  It advises on walking to school, travelling by bus, driving to school, and cycling.

Ø      ‘No Child Car Seat, No Excuse’

The ‘No Child Car Seat, No Excuse’ Poster issued to each Garda Station in Co. Galway in October, ’06.  It advises members of the public on the correct car seat to be used by children up to age 12.

Ø      Newspaper Adverts – Galway County Council places Adverts in the local press and other publications to raise awareness of road safety, e.g. pedestrians; drink driving; mobile phone use, etc.

Ø      Cinemamobile

The Council’s ‘Go nÉirí an Bóthar Leat’ Road Safety Awareness Video was made available to Cinemobile – Ireland ’s Travelling Cinema, in 2007 and 2009.  The film is listed on the Cinemamobile’s National School Booklet which allows all national school in the country access to viewing this film which promotes the road safety message.

Ø      MEAS Cards - The Council, through its Motor Taxation Department and Roads & Transportation Unit, continues to circulate Information Cards by MEAS (Mature Enjoyment of Alcohol in Society Ltd), in conjunction with the Road Safety Authority, which aims to reduce the incidence of drink driving ‘the morning after the night before’. 

 

 

 

 

Ø      ‘Be Safe, Be Seen’ Leaflet -

Galway County Council produced a ‘Be Safe, Be Seen’ Leaflet aimed at raising awareness to pedestrians of the importance to brighten up and to wear high visibility clothing at night.  Copies of the leaflet issued to each Branch Library; Garda Station and Post Office in County Galway in April, 2009.
