Dairies
Galway County Council has a statutory function in the implementation of legislation relating to liquid milk dairy farms. These farms produce milk which goes for immediate liquid consumption.
Veterinary officers from Galway County Council carry out regular inspections of these holdings to ensure proper standard of:
- Structural & Operation Hygiene.
- Milk quality
- Animal health & welfare
Currently there are 151 liquid milk producers in County Galway supplying 5 pasteurising plants:
Ballaghdereen (Connaught Gold)

Kilconnell (Arrabawn)
Nenagh (Arrabawn)
