Draft Strategic Policy Committee Scheme

Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) consider matters connected with the formulation, development, monitoring, and review of policy for Galway County Council. The membership of SPCs is made up of County Councillors and external representatives from local sectoral interests. A new scheme is now proposed for the next five years.
The six Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) proposed cover the following areas of activity:
- Economic Development & Enterprise
- Planning, Environment, Agriculture & Emergency Services
- Transportation & Infrastructure
- Community & Cultural Development
- Climate Change & Biodiversity
Submissions marked ‘Draft Strategic Policy Scheme 2019 – 2024’ are now invited and may be lodged with the Rúnaí Contae (Gníomhach), Galway County Council, Áras an Chontae not later than 4.00pm on Friday, 25th October 2019.The Draft Strategic Policy Scheme 2019-2024 is available to view by clicking Draft Strategic Policy Committee Scheme 2019 - 2024 or from the Corporate Services Section, Galway County Council.
Following the adoption of the SPC Scheme by Galway County Council, the process for the nomination of Sectoral representatives to the Strategic Policy Committees will be undertaken.
