Galway City and County Library
The public library service for Galway was established in 1927. Today, its book-stock is in excess of 200,000 . The service is delivered through a network of thirty Library Branches and a mobile library. All branches open on Saturday and provide public Internet access. Also, in co-operation with An Post, we deliver books-on-tape to the visually impaired. This service is free. In addition, we provide primary schools with reading material. Our Archives section houses information on Galway's history including a newspaper collection that dates from the 1790s.
Our Libraries: 'a window to the world, a reflection of our imaginations, books open up horizons to us. Our desire is to share, again and forever, the passion for books with the greatest number of people. We invite you to immerse yourself in the depths of words and meaning, in a spirit of conviviality and a real proximity with all of us in the library service.'
