Digital Strategy Introduction
Galway County’s Digital Strategy is a statement of intent and support for the digital development of the county, in a period of increasing connectivity and higher use of digital service, digital technologies and infrastructure.
This Digital Strategy will enable the population of county Galway to fully benefit from this increased connectivity and to address challenges that it will also bring. A full version of the digital strategy can be found here. (Link)
The direction of Galway Counties digital strategy was derived by reviewing existing national and regional plans and strategies relating to digital transformation at a national and regional level under the following themes
- Digital infrastructure
- Training, education and skills
- Innovation and growth
- Enterprise and employment
- Inclusion and well being
- Digital public services
- Access to information
- Trust, security and privacy
Galway’s County Digital Strategy has set out to address themes under four headings
- Getting Online
- Digital Skills – skills for making the most of being online
- Online Enterprise
- Online Communities / Online Services
The role of Galway Counties Digital Strategy will be to enable more people in Galway to get on-line and to make the most of the increasing levels of connectivity becoming available.
By working together to fully embrace the benefits increased connectivity can bring and combating the challenges, we will be ensuring our county, region and country will be at the forefront of a digital transformation and all on the most western coast of Europe.
