The Clifden Local Area Plan is made in accordance with objectives of the Galway County Development Plan 2009-2015 as varied. The Galway County Development Plan (GCDP) is the “parent” document for
this Plan. It is also made in accordance with the requirements for Local Area Plans contained within the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended). This Plan will be the Plan for Clifden for six years or
as otherwise amended. The purpose of the Clifden Local Area Plan is to inform the general public, in particular the residents of Clifden, the statutory authorities, developers and other interested bodies of the policy framework and
broad land use proposals that will be used to guide development in Clifden over the plan period. The aim of the Plan is to set out a framework for the future development of the town, which will take place in a coordinated and orderly manner.
