Choice Based Letting (CBL) is a method we use to allocate council houses and is part of the Social Housing Strategy 2020.
This method should be used by approved applicants only.
What is Choice Based Letting (CBL)? Choice-based letting (CBL) is a method that can be used for the allocation of social housing where an applicant can express their interest in renting a suitable property in their preferred area. CBL is being introduced as part of the Social Housing Strategy 2020.
Who can use CBL? This method can be used by approved applicants only. Approved applicants are people that are already on our Housing waiting list.
Are all Galway County Council houses part of CBL? The scheme only applies to dwellings which have been specifically designated by Galway County Council for Choice Based Letting.
How can households apply for a property which has been advertised? Households that wish to be considered in the allocation of a dwelling must, within a specified timeframe to apply to Galway County Council by submitting their interest via the online CBL system and supply any supporting information specified in the notice. Each notice advertising a property will set out any specific application requirements for a particular dwelling.
What happens if I refuse an offer for a CBL house? If you refuse the offer you will remain on our Housing list but we will not accept another CBL request from you for a period of one year.
Can I register for more than one house at a time? Yes, provided you have not refused a CBL offer in the past year.
How to use CBL? To register your interest in living in a CBL house browse the houses on this mini web site and follow the on-screen instructions.You will need your PPS number and an email address to complete the registration.
