Public Consultation Period
The Office of Public Works, in conjunction with Galway County Council, is currently advancing a Flood
Relief Scheme for Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. The project is currently at a stage of examining Emerging
As part of this process, it is proposed to hold a Public Consultation Event at which the emerging
potential options will be presented to the public and other relevant stakeholders. This will afford
interested parties an opportunity to discuss the project with our Project Team, including our
Engineering consultants (Arup) & Environmental consultants (Ryan Hanley) and provide input and
feedback to the process.
There will be an in-person event in the Plaza Suite of the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe on Tuesday 15th March 2022 from 1.00pm to 7.00pm.

Additionally, the Project information will be publicly available to view in the foyers of:

Wednesday 9th February to Friday 25th March 2022.
The goal of this Public Consultation period is to engage with the public and stakeholders from key
public bodies and to identify and discuss particular factors including opportunities that may inform
the further development of the scheme. Additionally, any potential elements that could be considered
to create multiple benefits and/or meet objectives other than flood risk management may be
identified and discussed.
We would appreciate your attention on the above and should you wish to make comment or discuss
the emerging potential options with our Project Team, we will be available by appointment during the
consultation period via a dedicated phone line.
