Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, and Minister of State Joe O’Brien, have announced a further €50 million in funding under the Community Recognition Fund 2024. The allocation to County Galway is €1,303,230.
The Community Recognition Fund 2024 aims to support the development of community infrastructure and facilities for the entire community, in recognition of the contribution being made by communities in welcoming and hosting significant numbers of new arrivals from Ukraine and other countries. Funding proposal will be submitted to the Department of Rural and Community Development across 3 application windows, i.e., 31st May 2024, 30th September 2024, and 31st January 2025. All successful projects must be delivered across 2025 and 2026 and fully comply with all public procurement requirements.
Galway County Council will seek Expressions of Interest for project proposals from community groups in towns & villages that are hosting high levels of Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection or International Protection Applicants. The local authority will develop project proposals in consultation with a range of stakeholders which demonstrate a clear need for investment.
Details of the local consultation process and the Expression of Interest process will be available on this page shortly.
