Disruptions to Water Supply 02-09-10
Update 4.30pm: Water users in parts of Barna and higher areas of Moycullen are continuing to experience disruptions to supply. This is due to a decreased supply of water to the area from the Tonabrucky Reservoir in Galway City. Galway County Council is liaising with Galway City Council to resolve the situation and wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused. As water levels at the Tonabrucky reservoir are still low disruptions are expected to continue for at least 48 hours. The Council will continue to monitor the situation closely and will issue regular updates. Until supply can be fully restored, Galway County Council will deploy water tankers this evening at the following locations to provide an emergency supply: 1. Tonabrucky (Close to reservoir) 2. Killagoola 3. Barna (Near old waterworks at Furrymelia West) Water from tankers should be boiled before consumption as a precautionary measure. For more information, please visit www.galway.ie or contact the Water Services Section on (091) 476401. For emergency situations only, the Water Services Out of Hours Contact number is (091) 476432.
